    Here's my answer to a similar question from at a different question:

    Doing all the quests that give farming xp is the best way to start farming, as you can get to 25+ farming rather quickly.
    Fairly Tale pt 1 will get you to around lvl 17, which is enough to do to the drunken dwarf quest, which will get your farming to about 26. This means you can now do Garden of Tranquility, giving enough xp for lvl 29-30 farming. In addition, the Goblin sub-quest from R4D gives 1000 farming xp, which leaves with only around 1k experience needed for lvl 32 farming, which you could easily get using tears of guthix.

    To get to 40 from there, simply set up a route for yourself, hitting as many allotment, bush, and hops patches as you can with as much speed as you can. Or you could always buy a few tree seeds and get very easy xp.

    If money is no object buy trees to plant in your garden in ya house, i got to 10 farming with about 20 trees =) they expensive kinda but if you have enough is easy n fast n not boring
