I would go to Jessops ask just tell them your budget. You really need a decent brand like Canon, Sony, Olympus etc
You pay a bit more for the brand but its worth it (easier to get lenses and better support at camera shops)
If you go into Jessops and tell them your budget they will find you a good one, go back home and search for it on the internet then go back£350 will get you a OK camera x] You may be like "oh its £200 cheaper to by a compact camera and it has the same MP" - remember that they will have a crap shutter speed, a crap sensor, you cant manual focus and you just wont get that great shots from them. If your enjoy going out and taking photos then its a good £350 spent.
Go to Tesco or a post office and buy a magazine on photography - they will review etc good cameras in different price brackets.
