MS keep releasing updates though for the chippers out there and so people are being banned.

Calm down a bit.
Chipping your 360 means that it will use a different operating system to the normal un-chipped xbox. And so, when an update comes out it can identify that the OS is different and be like "*** is this os doing here?" and then bans that xbox from using Live totally.
