Had my 360 Premium since August 2006 and its never been better! (never the RROD, well, 2 lights or something because I pulled the AV cable out by accident with my foot, but I plugged it back in and it worked againsurprise surprise. LOL)

I had my xbox 360 for about 2 years, never had the RROD at all. You should be fine, just don't be one of them people who will drop it and move it while a disc is in the machine and all that crap

It's a temporary fix that forces the console to overheat which enables the solder on the graphics unit to mold back in to its original factory state.
