    Just do dual screen, then for a taskbar on the other side install UltraMon, and for a different background use DisplayFusion, Ultramon lets you have a taskbar of whatever is on that screen, making it easier. Also, this is optional, Ultramon adds two more buttons next to your minimize, maximize and close button, that lets you split it between both screens and move it to other ones.

    If it's loads of different computers then VNC or remote desktop. If it's one computer with a couple of screens then extend the desktop to them.
