Coach or Train will be the best options and also the cheapest.

I agree with Alice on this too National Express are cheap, reliable and in some cases, faster than a train (they take a more direct route, and don't stop in random places).

National Express is good if you don't mind waiting around.

Train can be cheap if you go at the right time of day (about 11am/12pm for example?) and booked a few weeks in advance.

£12 from Coventry to London return on National Express, so from Manchester it can't be that much more.
Or, grab a train and pay your fare from where ever the Conductor guy gets on at.

Damn never realised it was expensive to get from manchester to london, I had always thought It was long for me to get to london lol.. costs me £2 from where I am, and I could even go by bus..

Erm you could try getting a friend to drop you of? help him/her out with the petrol? or take your own car if you have one and let someone else drive?

The problem is, ive never properly been into london, so id prefer to go with a mate. and if we do "skip the train" (getting on without paying) It would be quite hard, not like it is with the metrolink in manchester, thats easy to skip XD Im thinking about going on national express as thats my only option, unless a freind or familly member could take me..

I wouldn't recommend getting on a train without a ticket. When you get off at London, there will be barriers. You could try sneeking through with someone else though, I've done it many times. Or you could just pay the fine, I think it's either £20 or £40. It would work out cheaper.

I suggest you look for an Etap hotel in London. Only £45 per night with up to 3 people per room, if you're going with a friend then thats only £22 each.
