I can understand why you dont want to pay. Its a lot of money, and its also a joke considering there are usualy better offers available for new customers than loyal ones!

Yes its a business as some have said, but it wouldnt be a very good one if it didnt have any customers would it? All companys have to offer incentives..

:job2 - I would try and get as far as getting put through to retentions when you ring up, this could mean nearly going through with cancelling (but at the end of the day you still dont have to!). Retentions are there as the name suggests to try and retain the customers. If your going to get offered anything you'll get it here. Perhaps say youve had an offer from Virgin and they were willing to give you 2 boxes for..... Or say you know of people who've had a discount and want to know why your not eligble.

    Hope this helps.

Its not that I dont want to pay the £100, but I have heard about people being given heavy discounts / given for free if they threaten to leave. I wanted to find out if anyone on here had been given discounts and if they have share how much they got discounted so that i could think about what im going to do.

I hardly have a 'cheepo' attitude I just have the brain (yes brain) power to be able to figure out that it makes more sense to get something cheaper. If you went into a shop after being told you could get £40 off if you ask, would you pay the full price?

Im not trying to be rude towards you but your post was pointless, it didnt answer what I was asking in the first place. If you dont have any experiences with how to get a discount from sky then dont post?

To be fair, you wouldn't walk into a car dealership and offer the asking price, you'd haggle, so he has a point about loyal discounts etc

That's funny because adult channels all have a different subscription service which you have to pay for via the channel/over the phone with the channel themselves, Sky don't actual offer a deal where you get all the adult channels.

My mum called up Sky, saying that the credit crunch and everything was gonna make us cancel our sky net and tv subscription. They called back saying they'd give us sky+ with a free installation, 5 quid a month subscription ontop of our current subscription, as long as we transfer our phone line to sky (under the same BT contract though??? :S)

Either way, we saved 100 quid, all because I wanted to go to Uni and my mum wanted Sky+, and she's good at lying. Try Martins Money Tips, you'll find alot of bargains there, its where my mum got her Sky+ Subscription from.

Found that for anyone who wants to know the same as me.

As to that guy who called me a cheepo for wanting a good deal, look at how many people have posted in that thread, are they all 'cheepos' as well? Or maybe its just the fact that you let companies treat you like a mug

Sorry for double post but it is relevent.

I phoned sky today and asked to be put through to retentions straight away, I didn't even bother asking for a discount again.

The man in retentions asked me what I wanted, I said I want a free box and free installation because we have been with sky for years. He put me on hold for a minute to see what he could do, when he came back he said he could give me a Sky+ box (normally £199) for £49 and free installation (normally £60). Obviously I said yes as this is a huge saving

It just shows what lengths they will go to keep customers, especially ones that have a been with them for a long time.

Someone is coming around Wednesday 10th December to install it

Well done for persevering, congratulation and hope you're looking forward to your new box
