I have a dell inspiron 1501, in fact im using it now.

Only problem is, the keyboard has keys missing, the screen does not work and there are some problems such as the touch mouse.

I know use a external monitor, keyboard and mouse and use it as a desktop (Y).

Dell isnt bad though, there support is great, and tbh there laptops arnt bad either. Just take care of it and your fine. Either that or get a HP there amazing

Whenever I've had to ring Dell they have been people in the UK who have sent someone out to deliver a new laptop keyboard or totally fix a computer either the same or next day.

You don't need to listen to this guy, he hates Mac's for some godforsaken reason.

You COULD save up for a MacBook, or you could get a Samsung NC12? It's essentially a normal laptop but smaller, but not quite as small as a netbook because, to my understanding, it has a 12" display?

Or if that's not for you, anything built by HP (and not running Vista) is a machine worth having. HP's middle class and above machines use decent sound systems and nVidia graphics chips which are great for laptop gaming.
i've been here for over 8 years and i don't know why
