Obviously advertising influences people, it would be a complete waste of time and money if it didn't.I was about to say, the next stupid thing they're doing is banning alcohol adverts. What's the point? I'd love to know how significant the effect of the ban on McDonalds' adverts during kids' TV hours has had directly on McDonalds' revenue. I doubt it's huge.
I love some alcohol ads, like Guinness for example. I don't remember any tobacco ads but my dad said they were good too. These and cars are the only good ads on TV really and I have no sympathy for people who allow themselves to be so easily influenced as to waste their money and possibly risk their personal health by using these products (alcohol/tobacco/fast food).
Grandad: I mean smoking mari-jew-arna! You brought a slur upon the family name.
Rodney: Oh leave off Grandad. I'd have to get done for chicken molesting to bring a slur on this family's name.
Neither do I but I still find it stupid.
Yes, but can you really imagine no adverts to suddenly get rid of all the violent and disruptive behaviour caused by people just wanting to get wasted?
They did that here in Australia, didn't help much!
But it was just to stop binge drinking and it was for pre-mixed drinks![]()
I've got no idea, but it would be worth a try. If you don't think it will work, then it shouldn't be a problem for the people who do like to get drunk or drink a lot. And the people who go out to get wasted in your words, are usually people who are quite stupid - that's my opinion, as who could find that fun - and probably the type of people who are heavinly influenced by advertising.

Heck, they are going to ban adverts for everything this could make the world ad free
but thats not going to happen![]()
Lowering the prices would be better. Keeping them up just causes more problems - just look at pubs and how not-so-welcoming they are now. Besides, making them low means anyone can drink, and if anyone drinks the novelty of getting completely rat arsed is lost and you only get social drinking - not drinking for the sake of getting drunk. But of course, there would be the step between which will be a huge novelty of "cheap drink, time to get rat arsed!" but after that, peace comes through. Raising it will mean businesses close, people would become anti-social and start destroying and stealing things.
It worked with unfiltering pissed on here![]()

Ok, I dont really care about the second part of that coz I think it's kinda wrong but the whole bit about it being the drunks person's life, let them do what they want with it is just wrong. I know first hand that it's not just affecting themselves but it is affecting their friends and their family. If we just let people do what they want and suffer the consequences we might get more Hitlers (although I know that letting the price of alcohol wont single handedly create a Hitler The SecondIt really gets on my nerves!! If people want to get drunk, let them. It's our lives. If we cause criminal damange then we deal with the consequenses like every other crime. I also find it funny how most the people who say alcohol should be increased in value to stop binge drinking and that tend to be people with no social lives and really good jobs and sumtimes school kids who are brain washed by their really strict parents.
FUMING.)
The brewries wont be loving it, the government will then use the money to create better alcohol research and rehab's. Although your right, the only people that will be affected are those who dont drink much in the first place, the alcoholics are addicted, they wont stop, although their money is gonna be put to better use.I thought the more important point was the fact that making it more expensive won't stop people buying it. You get people on the dole sitting in pubs even before licensing hours until closing who will be sitting there drinking regardless.
When I go out I have a couple of pints and it's pretty expensive as it is. If it becomes more expensive, I'll still go out and have a couple of pints.
The only real effect is that it will make us all poorer while the landlords, off licenses and breweries will be loving it.
Theres only two years of teens that can buy alcohol, 18's and 19's, the rest steal it anyway and Im pretty sure a lot of 18 and 19 year olds would already do that, and seriously, if theysteal alcohol they will eventually get busted and busted till they learn or a removed from the public, so by the end stealing isn't gonna be a problem.
