Default Is anyone else sick of idiots campaigning to get booze prices increased?

It really gets on my nerves!! If people want to get drunk, let them. It's our lives. If we cause criminal damange then we deal with the consequenses like every other crime. I also find it funny how most the people who say alcohol should be increased in value to stop binge drinking and that tend to be people with no social lives and really good jobs and sumtimes school kids who are brain washed by their really strict parents.

    FUMING.

I thought the more important point was the fact that making it more expensive won't stop people buying it. You get people on the dole sitting in pubs even before licensing hours until closing who will be sitting there drinking regardless.

When I go out I have a couple of pints and it's pretty expensive as it is. If it becomes more expensive, I'll still go out and have a couple of pints.

The only real effect is that it will make us all poorer while the landlords, off licenses and breweries will be loving it.

Raising prices wont make people stop buying it, itl just make people buy less of it I think. I don't care for booze, personally I only drink it for leisure and social chitterchatter. However theres people who go out of their way to get absolutely hammered and start fights just because theyre bored and have nothing better to do. Its always the minority spoil it for the majority.

so mehhhh, let them increase the booze, it wont matter in the end, its like increasing fuel prices, we're still gonna buy it.

Raising prices will just make many teens steal it.

It's not 'then we deal with the consequenses'. People who get stupidly drunk waste half of the ambulances time when they could be somewhere better, you might aswell hoax the police.

Maybe the prices will encourage less of the outragous boozing, nothing wrong with getting 'just' drunk though.

Exactly, I hardly think anyone is going to be like, "ohh, they broke all my car windows, but I feel good that they'll deal with the consequences." I'd really rather that a lot of people didn't have to worry in life, especially my old gran, who has people jumping on her little motor scooter garage, or the drunks who wouldn't leave our back garden and petrified my 6 year old brother.

Such a ridiculous thing to say that. People don't give a **** about the people who are doing the stupid things, like whether or not they're paraletic, they care about themselves and don't want drunks puting fear in to them. It isn't for the drinkers benefit they raise prices, it's for the people they bother. That really is the dumbest thing I've read, "If we cause criminal damange then we deal with the consequenses," what about the people you do that to? I couldn't care less if you had a criminal record, or were punished, I would rather nothing bad happened to me or other people in the first place. Most crimes are done when people are drunk, I think this can really improve things.
And I'm really glad Scotland is doing something about it, I'd love it if all alcohol advertising was banned.

Grandad: I mean smoking mari-jew-arna! You brought a slur upon the family name.

Rodney: Oh leave off Grandad. I'd have to get done for chicken molesting to bring a slur on this family's name.

I was about to say, the next stupid thing they're doing is banning alcohol adverts. What's the point? I'd love to know how significant the effect of the ban on McDonalds' adverts during kids' TV hours has had directly on McDonalds' revenue. I doubt it's huge.

I love some alcohol ads, like Guinness for example. I don't remember any tobacco ads but my dad said they were good too. These and cars are the only good ads on TV really and I have no sympathy for people who allow themselves to be so easily influenced as to waste their money and possibly risk their personal health by using these products (alcohol/tobacco/fast food).
