The whole call-in thing is a struggle to get to work. In the years I was at HxL, 2-3 different people had tried it, got all the publicity, and then it's flopped into not working at all - either due to technical difficulties or due to nobody calling in.

All the best to the DJs who do try it. However no one would be let on the radio live if they aren't DJs - which still leads the window open to podcasts which could perhaps work.
Any real reason for this? after all a "dj" is just someone habbox has said is allowed to go on the radio and doesn't not expressly imply any special training or skills?

Equally, any call in method would be fully tested to work and a number of people lined up to call in or act as guests so the no call ins would not be an issue.

The lack of callers and issues found in previous attempts to me would indicate a failing in advertising the event(as would the fact i've never heard of any such attempts) along with poor preparation? Both of these things are easily solved and at worst, would just result in another flop - if there's a huge fear an ordinary dj can be lined up to take over broadcasting if needed "/

Because something has been unsuccessful before, does not mean i cannot work now. So i'm still all for at the very least, giving this idea a shot.

We do have the chatathon which is definatly more talking than music.

However most times when you attempt to start a discussion about good topics not many people send in there views.

It would be very interesting to see it work. sounds like a fantastic idea though.

My thought was that possibly an hour or so of habbox radio time could be put aside to some form of call in chat show based around the forum.
The host could be a forum member or more experienced dj from the radio site then rather than play music, actually have live discussion on a number of interesting topics based around the forum. For example a call in on the whole forum going down hill, how to fix it idea.

Callin's could be done via Skype then added to the live audio stream being payed through the radio. Obviously quite a bit of promotion may be needed so that more of the former members are listening to the show and there are a few happy to skype in to it all.

I personally would find say, an hour or half hour of this a very interesting thing to listen too.

The main problems involved would be A, getting the technically stuff all working and B making sure the content was appropriate - seeing as callers could be cut off though, whom ever was running the show should be able to stop anything bad as soon as it starts - at least as effectively as the bbc do - and with less outrage if a swear slips though.

What do others think of the concept, i think it would be both interesting and also bring the forum and radio closer together, as despite the attempted linking of the two, they seem, at least to me, as very separate entity's.

Equally shows could be recorded and put up as podcasts without the legal/licensing issues you'd have were music - at least mainstream music, included.
This is a great idea that I would really like to see happen, but as stated in the thread, it will not have the same interest as music does, it would most likely need a second broadcast system. Perhaps even with video since it would be secondary and not need constraint. The one thing that I do not like is that you seem to single it out as just a 'call-in' show, what would be easier from the start would be a round the table discussion with pre-planned guests, this would mean that you are not waiting on people to call in.
