you need to select the right box. click and hold the rectangular shape tool. then select the one thats rounded. at the top, there will be something called radius. enter a number, the higher it is, the more rounded it is.

i think thats what you want

Okokokok, I messed up the wording, uber n00b with Photoshop here.

What I want is to have the corners of the marquee smoothed, but I guess I have to do it with the shape tools now..?

For rounded corners, I make a square with the selection tool (M button is the shortcut) and then click on Select -> Modify -> Smooth.. The bigger the radius the more its rounded, obviously
