With a like system at least it will be a more public sign of approval, rather than the "closed door" reputation system. Maybe publicly show who has repped the post (dunno if this can be done).

Or show how many reps have been placed.

I am very rarely repped even though peple agree / like my comments) and i very rarley rep others as i feel (and im assuming others do) rep is for aiding with somthing or a special contribution.

As i stated earlier you don't rep someone if you agree with a comment of if they say for example: I Love Toy Story 3!

I quite agree with this and I really think people should be repping for the things you say Lost_Addict, not enough people use the reputation system anymore and it'd be great if they did.

i agree & will +rep you for this idea even though it's not new
reputation has been lowered for the daily limit and amount of people you need to rep before you can rep again, there's nothing more you can do because those were the main problems and yet it's still not used enough.
try something new. i don't mind either way but reputation is nothing now.

    i dislike buttons
    both buttons

mainly because its been discussed a million times and been said no to and reasons can be find using a simple search, but:
    they look ugly
    reduce posting
    not ideas for this forum
    Jin wants less modifications
    use reputation

I quite like the idea of that. I always feel people would feel better seeing their good post publically recognised.

I hope people have enough brain cells to know what's a good post...

This will no doubt lead to mass clicking of the like button for the sake of it.

Not really sure, I think new members might get intimidated even more. Seems to me an ego-boost rather than anything constructive.

edit: as for the publically showing who's repped, some people +rep privately as they could agree with a post that goes against the 'popular' view and would probably feel uncomfortable at their name being stuck on a post they agree with but too intimidated to show public approval of (which might mean they rep less, which is what youre trying to combat)

Fully agree. Like I have had people +rep me for some posts which I know for sure they wouldn't want other members to see or find out. Yes it could be done so it only shows how many times a post has been repped but its useless.
