Whenever something comes out that is worth while upgrading to. I managed to go from 2007 - 2010 on my old 8800GT, decided I wanted to upgrade, got a 5850.

Same thing for my processors, my Q6600 has had a good run in the past 3 years but now I want to go to the new Sandybridge i7s when they come out, which will also be good timing so that I won't have to upgrade whilst I'm at Uni in a year's time.

I usually have my laptops for a long time before replacing them but this one is only a year old because I got it last year when I began college.

I don't necessarily feel the need to "change" my pc lol, I'm more of an "upgrade" person

If you have a PC its cheaper to replace broken parts, laptop, abit harder

I had a PC for 2 years, replaced that as EVERYTHING burnt out, got a new one, still got that but got a laptop to be more portable which is a year old

wow im surprised at how short people have their computers lol.

ive had my mac for almost 2 years exactly, its still pretty much brand new other than a kinda infuriating headphone jack glitch that will occasionally think there are headphones plugged in when in fact there arent, so the speakers wont play D: apparently this is common among macbooks though, i have a bunch of friends with the same problem, luckily it doesnt effect anything past that though. i take really good care of my computer, i dont load anything on it i dont need and i clean out files regularly. ill give it at least another 2 or 3 years before i need a new one.

The problem with Macs are when you buy them they are already a year, if not two, out of date. Core2Duos which Apple are still using are ancient now.
