Apparently most of the time shops will take your details even on PAYG sims now, whether they tell you or not if you pay by card or whether they ask you for ID if it's by cash anyways.

I buy alot of pay as you go phones and not once been asked for any details.

I'm pretty sure there are ways to be traced using skype, however i could be wrong.

I think if you really want to commit a crime using a mobile phone, you'd do it anywa.y

This is going to encourage prank calls that are a criminal offences (to police, hospitals etc). People can now just buy a sim and phone, make the calls and then can throw it away for a pound.

People can do that on expensive phones, seeing as SIMs are given away like hot cakes

Police can trace to the actual phone id, if you used an expensive phone you'd have to never use it again if you didn't want to get caught.
