    This is going to encourage prank calls that are a criminal offences (to police, hospitals etc). People can now just buy a sim and phone, make the calls and then can throw it away for a pound.

    People already do that regardless of the phone price, anyway you can pick up a phone now for £10 which is hardly breaking the bank and discouraging potential criminals from committing a crime.

    I'd never thought there would ever be a phone available to purchase at just 99p :L

    @Eoin, I disagree.

    I know people do it already but what i said was it will encourage this further.

    10 times doing this at 10£= 100£

    10 times doing this at 1£ = 10£

    see what i mean?

    Hardly going to encourage it more.

    ETA (Spanish Terrorists) buy cheap phones (oh my god 15 euros), phone the police alerting them they have put a bomb somewhere, eg. malaga airport, then throw away the phone and destroy it.

    99c and 15 euros is hardly going to hurt the bank.

    Read the calculation in my previous post please.

    Look im not talking about terrorists, im talking about kids or teens that have a little bit of cash in their pockets and can now do this as some sort of sick hobby for near free.

    Apparently most of the time shops will take your details even on PAYG sims now, whether they tell you or not if you pay by card or whether they ask you for ID if it's by cash anyways.
