No, I actually like a lot of YouTube and Underground rappers in the US. My point is that Radio Rap in the US is terrible right now, and that UK Grime is much better than it.

But yeah, opinions will definitely vary from person to person. No problems with that.

wow not even trying to be bias but u.s. rap >>>>> grime. dont get me wrong i like grime and i appreciate the different production styles, but the u.s. has producers that have made beats that are far far more complex and expansive than anything thats come out of the uk

the radio in general is terrible, and is an especially terrible way to judge a genre.

Anybody have good examples of non-radio U.S. rappers?

The few that I listen to include D-Pryde, Dumbfoundead, Kid Cudi, New Boyz, and Cali Swag Distract.

I personally like both genres the same; I have near-equal amounts of Grime and Hip Hop albums but I find myself listening to a lot more grime these days; Kano, JME, Roll Deep, Ghetts, and the Newham Generals.

+rep for D-Pryde & Dumbfoundead. I actually recently just bought 'Fun With Dumb', and downloaded 'No...Rly Now', haha.

Non-radio rappers? Try Wax, Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kwali, Mos Def or Tech N9ne. Or maybe try some works from Nas, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Rakim, Proof & Xzibit.

I'll be branded a maniac for speakin' the truth and I'll be murdered as soon as I hit the streets with the proof.

    lol.

But yeah nearly all rap is censored from radio either because of the lyrical content or just the fact that it doesn't appeal to the majority of radio listeners. You'd have to find a very specialised radio channel/show in the UK to hear the likes of Big Pun, Ghostface Killah, M.O.P., Freeway... the list goes on and on and on, far too diversely to simply pick a few names and stick to just those artists. One of the beauties of rap music is that it's constantly evolving and there is always always always going to be more that you can find and branch out from as you go on finding other acts you enjoy. Even people you've heard before and thought "well that was crap" might have some hidden bangers that you'll love, because other than Lil Jon they tend to have a variety of sounds and styles about them and at their disposal
