    Go to a website such as http://www.alltextencryption.com/

    Add a key (Like a password, keep it secret) and insert the plain text into the plain text field and then your encrypted text pops out below. To decrypt put the same key back in and then press decrypt.

    Make sure it's .docx rather than .doc otherwise it's insecure

    Use a Truecrypt container, or the built in MS Office encryption.

    It uses a different type of encryption for backwards compatibility with Word 1997 and 2000 that isn't properly secure.
