I know you're all annoyed that the change wasn't implemented but I'm sure a lot of people don't want the new system for a reason they just haven't posted. You're all very vocal in Feedback but a lot of others might not be. Just because they don't want to voice their opinions doesn't mean they don't have the right to have one.

Although it seems like the majority of people posting want the new change, that's probably just because the people who don't don't vocalise their ideas as much. It's their community just as much as it is ours. I, too, would have liked to see the change implemented but we've been outvoted.

This isn't me criticising your outspokenness btw. I think it's good to be vocal on the forum but we can't force people to speak up. Trying to get them to speak up would just make them even more quiet if I think about it.

It's interesting that the vote was so close though. Maybe it would be sensible to vote again in 6 months time and see if anything has changed? I wouldn't suggest it if it had been 16 to 34 votes or something but 21 to 23 is very close.

Utterly daft that things go to poll at all rather than just being rationalised and decided upon by the merit of the argument, Habbox has never been intended as a democracy

The majority of people either voted no because they don't care (no option provided for that... Huge oversight) or that they didn't fully understand the implications of the change. Some that voted no actually suggested more radical changes which inherently showed support for the proposal's intentions but had additional demands that they felt would not be met with the suggestion in it's current form, like including -reps, which has already been established as a bad idea.

Feedback has always been very one sided and in this particular case there was no valid opposition aside from speculation that could be easily debunked by looking at the way this system works on other platforms -- which I have personally done during my own research and posted about in the proposal thread.

The bottom line here is that negativity is only perpetuated when it is visible, as can be seen by the display of +reps whose number grows exponentially regardless of the post's content and very often is aimed at another user. The proposal had not one single downfall; there was no risk of bandwagoning because -reps still weren't visible, it was simply a mechanism to allow users to contribute to a post's status if they felt that it was undeserved.

Phil and nick were happy for the change to take place after reading the thread. The culture of complacency and God's shortage of spinal cords when it has come to members of habbox management meant that the change went to a poll instead. I'm still a bit lost for words on that one -- why are we polling a change that is built to prevent negativity? There is literally no valid rebuttal other than e5's "I don't think it's a good idea" or other members' suggestions for more radical approaches of displaying all rep or abolishing -rep entirely. It's a sad day when management can't see that an idea is a good one and implement it and instead decide to veto it entirely because two people more don't want it but haven't posted their logic.
