You cant realy say "our" as hes only the chaflics (And possibly a few other christian groups) spirital leader, but not everyone elses aka aithists, and other religions whoich would have there own.

I'm not sad, not because I'm not a believer, but it didn't came as a surprise, the man is/was very old and is health is/was already going down.
So be happy it wasn't a surprise because it would have been a bigger shock.

But he was such a great influence, he stuck by his beliefs.

Isn't that because he's the Pope? If you're the Pope you're not going to start questioning religious beliefs that you're supposed to stand for, so of course it's going to appear that he 'stands by his beliefs'.

I think that he is undoubtedly a very influential figure and i don't wish for him to die, but to be honest i agree with Mentor and Stratocaster - his celebrity status does somewhat amplify what is a very natural occurance.

It said in an article (can't remember where) that this isn't as bad as it seems. I mean, as people have said he is an old man, with parkinsons and a few other things wrong with him. Dying will take him to God (if there is one o.O), and the Daily Telegraph headline was he is already touching Gods hand. Such a devote man deserves our prayers, if we are catholic or not.

I sort of agree on both sides, to catholics and other such religions the pope is extremely big, hes an important role in the catholic life, but he has had a lot of publicity lately over his illness's. My views on this topic is that hes had a long and fulfilling life, happy and free to follow his god and bless fellow followers.
So im going to pay my respects to him even though i am of no religion, but im not gonna mourn afterwards, i hardly knew him.
