Barrow items aren't based on kill count (unless you mean the amount of brothers you kill) nor what method you use to kill them.
It is based on luck hence why some people get a good drop after a few kills and other spend ages trying to get one, the fighting methods have nothing to do with it.

Barrows are based on a dice kind of thing if it rolls on to a item you get one yeah, I would explain more but I forgot.. not kill count

It's something you can combine with an anti-dragonfireshield to get a dragonfireshield. You can smith it if you have a very high smithing level, if you don't you'll have to pay an NPC (don't know which one) to make it for you. The shield will store dragonfire from dragons which can be released to hurt monsters.

I think Osiach has to do it for 1.25 million GPs. Not 100% sure though.
