There is that yes. Perhaps just the total reps it's received.

Yes I always thought rep was more of a personal thing, although I think displaying rep amounts would be a better thing because there's currently only one way of seeing who has the most rep and that's simply by the member list.

Perhaps if we introduced rep awards and the rep for donator ideas mentioned in the other thread it would encourage use of the reputation systsem?

and once u get to all the green blocks, then it doesnt show them in order properly so even that doesnt work great.

Awards aren't visible enough to actually mean much imo but the rep for donator is a good idea. Would it really encourage more usage of the rep system or more people trying to win it through various comps and events like habbox top model etc? If it doesn't encourage use of the rep system and people still rep with the 'only very important/funny/whatever criteria they have' posts deserve their rep, it'd probably be easier to get rep through the latter method, therefore not making any difference whatsoever.

Secondly, I have to agree with buttons. Why is this an issue in the first place? Lack of posts, yes. Lack of threads, yes. Lack of people repping? I don't think it's that much of a big deal tbh!

If more people gave reputation for posts people would be more inclined to post, well, that's the way it was when I was a newb, you'd try and post good posts looking for +rep and people were very generous with rep back then.

Joshuars quote below may solve this.

If the reputation given or taken for a post was shown with that post the reputation may then be used as a way of "liking" a post. This would not only bring the reputation system back to life but also implement a system were users can like/dislike a post.

Agree'd. People will end up just liking something instead of commenting.

Absolutely fantastic contribution to the thread Pyroka. Now don't get too excited but I have made a decision to add to your reputation. Well done son, you deserved it.

Wait a sec repped you 4 years ago......

You get the point, I agree the rep system really needs a change. I remember discussing it years ago on many occasions but for some unknown reason nothing ever happens.
