I don't understand why this ******** assumption is so common. Then again, the beliefs of the masses are usually wrong.

I swear every day - though I minimise it around family who find it distasteful - and I think it's arrogant to spout 'swearing means limited vocabulary' and its variations.

So you are basing your view on one clip from Stephen Fry which is also an extremely negatively overblown, stereotypical of people who do not like swearing and hardly a scientific finding. He is entitled to his opinion as you are entitled to yours and I am entitled to mine.. Maybe people in the entertainment business do swear a lot but I can only draw on my own personal experience. Tell me how does constant swearing enhance anybody's life? We all swear if we fall over or something as it is a release of the almost shock/pain of the experience. Alternative finding:

I rarely curse or swear because in my opinion it doesn'y show me an interlectual conversation. In a way it shows me how they follow the ways of society. Why don't you cuss and swear in your job?.......You would get fired for one thing and be known as rude, so why is it acceptable around our friends?

I sometimes swear without realising, or I realise as the word is about to come out and awkwardly change the word into something lesser. Depends on surroundings and my current mood at the time too.

When i get too excited i swear a lot especially infront of my family lol. They don't mind. I think swearing is ok but it gets really annoying when you swear a lot.
