    i get my fees paid for me and a bursary of £220 monthly for travel and books/lunch etc but i don't particularly need it as my mum pays for all that... neither of those have to be laid back. i just keep my bursary in my savings for future but it does help other people like those living far away or not at home. then theres student loans you can get if u want, not really sure how that works as i dont have one but my friend dropped out of uni after few months and had to pay it all back. yeah it's not fair on england etc but hell im not complaining. anyway make a debate if u want so we don't go off topic here @Kardan;

    No the government don't need to sort it out as Scotland has powers over their own education so it's their decision. SNP says if we go independent education will still always be paid for by the government so... dk how that will hold up but until then, no1 in scotland is complaining and it's our universities so you don't have to come nor do we have to pay for english people to come to ours either

    You get a bursary? Because you're like a really good student or what?

    everyone has option for bursary and student loan(tbh idk about eu students you'll have to try SAAS) idk how it works or if everyone gets it but my mums always been the lowest income so ive always had like free meals at school and highest amount of EMA etc cause im poor. so im not going to complain about not paying uni fees as i wouldn't have been able to go without this

    I don't mind that Scottish people get free education if their government wants to give them it. And I'm not too bothered that Europeans get free education in Scotland, it's that England and Wales (Despite being in Europe?) don't get the free education. So what should happen is that either Europeans pay, or let England and Wales get it free there as well.

    Reading into it, it turns out that it's a European law that Scotland has to give Europeans free education if they give Scots education, I just don't understand why England and Wales don't fall into that

    Maybe @-:Undertaker:-; knows, he seems to know everything about Europe.

    Oh, right makes sense. I never had this here in Portugal so I probably won't there either.

    or Northern Ireland! although people here had been getting an Irish passport so that they could get around it, but think they are bringing in legislation to prevent it.

    Yeah, the only way for anyone in England and Wales to get free education is to have Irish grandparents, become an Irish citizen and being considered as part of the EU.

    If Scotland becomes independent from the UK, does that mean we'd be considered as the EU then? And we'd get a free degree?

    would be bit silly to allow England Wales etc as then everyone would come to our uni's instead
    i think SNP want to be a full member of eu if theyre independent (doesnt mean they,l be allowed to) so will prob always be the case that scottish and eu students get it free. I have no idea why england and that aren't tho idk anything about eu politics etc all i know is Scotland has devolved powers over education therefore their rules
