Find it strange how such units/authorities don't share information. Well, even the UK didn't at first but that has changed in recent years which has helped us so far.
Can't believe in this day and age that authorities still keep information to themselves, I think this is primarily where the UK, Australia and the US has done relatively well at preventing these attacks. But I think the water buffer cannot be overstated in the difference it likely makes.

So this happened when I was on holiday and soon as I heard about it I was shocked and scared. Main reason being my brother and one of my sisters live 5/10mins away from where this attack took place. I instantly got in contact with them and by chance they decided not to go to the event. This was what scared me most that they were so close to the place and it was only by chance they did not go. That's decision would have most likely saved their lives. It really is horrible to hear/see attacks of this sort close to home or close to your family members. RIP to the people who did die and I send my condolences to the people with family who died or were injured.

A colleague of mine had the exact same experience, his parents spend 3 months a year in the South of France and decided not to attend the fireworks a few hours prior, unfortunately for my colleague he was not aware so was majorly freaking out until he got in contact them with about 6/7 hours later.
