I just get if things are really predicted by a reliable source (and when I say reliable I mean a source which has not been quoted on TV or in a news paper)
and if this is supposed to kill as many people as everyone is saying how come extream measures haven't been put in place already?

If I think about it seriously when I went out today I felt nothing had changed no one was acting as if we could all become infected and die.. I mean if like Voiding has said is true today alone I could have come in contact with hundreds of potentially infected people... maybe I'm infected myself infact I've got hayfeaver so already feel like crap so might not be able to tell the difference I'll update you on my condition

(I didn't mean to target Voiding directly you were the last person to post )
I’ll be a story in your head, but that’s okay, because we’re all stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh? Because it was, you know. It was the best. A daft old man who stole a magic box and ran away. Did I ever tell you that I stole it? Well, I borrowed it. I always meant to take it back. Oh, that box, Amy, you’ll dream about that box. It’ll never leave you. Big and little at the same time. Brand-new and ancient and the bluest blue ever. And the times we had, eh? Would had…Never had. In your dreams, they’ll still be there. The Doctor and Amy Pond and the days that never came.

So the day you turn twenty you're completely safe from dying? Sorry but that sounds like a load of crap, source?

He means that people between the age of 20 - 45 are most at risk of getting the virus as it seems to catch onto people who have the most healthy and secure immune system so if and i mean IF this does end up global you are better off having an extreamly bad immune system than a healthy one

that is what they have been saying on TV anyway...

EDIT: Just to confirm that does not mean you are going to die if you are between those ages like Voiding stated above lol

Lol. People at school were worrying because they only have enough medicine to treat half of the population. (UK)
They couldn't see that the two people who have it are only like 1/100000000

I didn't say it was 40% of the country who had the flu, yet again your putting words in my mouth to get your point (if you can call it that) across. You close the borders to protect your citzens, or would you rather we just take a "oh well doesn't matter if we die we die" attitude. Two people are indeed down with the flu, but as in Mexico it would of started off as one or two people, and now its estimated to be reaching thousands within just a few weeks.

And if you ran the country im sure we'd all be dead, thankyou very freakin much
In conclusion i'd rethink that, afterall, you'd like us to keep our borders open and take an incredible risk with this virus and peoples lives.

Would you rather us close the borders when thousands of people have the virus, by which time it would be too late and closing the borders would make no difference? - Just to add, which again shows people here don't know what their talking about, it is confirmed they have swine flu, not suspected.

I now ask; whos' post is ridiculous now.

Avian Flu could only be caught from birds to humans and not human to human like this Swine Flu. There are hopes at the moment that the virus will burn itself out in a week or two similar to the SARS crisis a few years ago.

According to ITV news (meh) the reason why the numbers are so high at the moment is because anyone who dies/comes down with normal flu (which is normally alot everyday apprently) are being logged as potential Swine Flu cases.

So far only seven of the one hundred and fifty (I think its 150?) that have been recorded as dead in Mexico have been confirmed as Swine Flu cases.

So meh I dunno what to beleve at the moment

whatever happens, we know more than ever (obviously) about viral diseases and we do have stockpiles of drugs which combat the disease effectively. Closing the borders is a ridiculous thing to do as the disease is more than likely already here and infected in a few dozen people and could have been here for several days (or weeks).
