At least Sony make nearly every part in the PS3 so if there is a break down, you don't have to send it to sony, then they check it, then send it to remote company, then remote company check it, then they fix it, then they send it back to Sony, then Sony send it to you. That usualy takes weeks, but with Sony they usualy do it all on one site. The reason why the PS3 is so expensive is due to the Blu Ray. You say you don't need/want it, but what if all DVD's change to Blu Ray within the next few years?
