Just because you have right of way, doesn't mean you can immediately walk out and get hit by a car. The common courtesy of zebra crossings is to stop and watch for a car. A car cannot immediately stop and drivers cannot read your mind. You may not cross, it happens. But running out into the road without waiting for the car to go pass which obvviously cannot stop within 10 feet, isn't a good thing and the driver is normally at fault.
As jrh said, you don't have right of way until you are literally on it. Unless you really want to be hit by a few tons of metal and plastic...![]()
