From what I've been told, Kidnappers would never go for a large group, if they are outnumbered. The usually do not want to spend time messing around either. If they have started to run after you, thats enough to raise suspicion to anybody so they will run. This doesn't mean they won't do it again, they sometimes will wait a few days then come back again. Some are really sick minded, they will study the times it busy and times when theres no public around.

Fair enough, I won't fight against it anymore but atleast I know I am making the most sensible choice.

Like I said, my phone I can pull out and shout 'Police Call' or 'Security Call' and it automatically dials to the one I choose. Security call is picked up almost immedietly and if i'm near my home I will have them there in a few minutes.

Also, if you don't have voice caller, then get used to controlling your mobile without visualisation. But its recommended to have 1 or 0 as a speed dial, the easiest numbers on a keypad to remember.
