People flocked to America in the early 20th century in search of new opportunities, these opportunities were mainly religious.

not really. people originally went to america for religious freedom, but that was the 16th and 17th centuries, not the 20th. the 20th was more about economic opportunities.

Im confused how you can be doing art history yet know nothing about america/eu

all i know about the statue of liberty is that its italian - the boat driver said it was anyway when we went past a miniature one on the harbour

@exploited. I thought that if america was part of the EU then that may be the reason why immigrants flocked over. Just like when the UK joined.

The EU is barely 20 years old. People were chasing 'The American Dream' over a century ago.

I've seen more absurdly believed things before.
