I wanted to apply when they came around but I won't be. Once again it looks like things aren't going the way I'd hoped (understandable, they're my opinions so of course I'm biased!) but to concentrate on Habbo, seems pointless? I actually think Martin would have been better and that takes me a lot to say that. At least he took peoples opinions on board.
I'd apply if I didn't have to do anything about habbo but I doubt there is that option. I think if you concentrate on Habbo then it'll be a failure. It brings nothing to habbox except longer news reports.
KISS MY ARSE MATT GARNER.
better?

I don't think the main focus of articles is on Habbo at all (it may be now, but when the idea was first drafted it wasn't). The articles department would focus much more on real life stuff, and real issues surrounding human life etc. Things such as politics, analysis of news, jokey/funny stuff, poems, jokes, help/advice columns, analysis on tv/entertainment in more depth with personalised opinions and add ons, books/music/film reviews and basically stuff that would interest most types of people rather than just the standard Habbo player.
There would of course be some Habbo stuff in there too, however I don't think as an articles writer you would be required to write any Habbo content and could stick purely to the main bulky real life stuff. (this is of course up to Charlie and I'm not sure what direction this is going in). Basically the site needs stuff that will engage readers, entertain them and provide something which would keep them coming back to the site. As a fansite we need to offer something unique and work on ways in which we make sure Habbox offers something for everyone and with Articles there is a very wide scope to do this. I've had news reporters that have just focussed on the non habbo stuff before and I'm pretty sure articles will be the same. There may be people who are interested in writing Habbo based articles, and these would most likely have there own section and would be a suitable home for the interviews and room reviews/room of the week etc, which Habbox currently (or would have soon anyway) offered.
In short, I would wait for Charlie's reply, however I don't see why there would be an issue with you not wanting to do Habbo stuff, since I don't think it's one of the requirements of the new department and I certainly think that the bulk content in the department would be on real life stuff.
and Lol, I don't think I would be better at all. Charlie is doing a fantastic job, and will ofcourse take onboard anything that is suggested etc. It may be the case that this isn't an issue anyway.

I dunno what this is about as I haven't been involved in news for a good few months but I would like to see non-habbo music reviews as well, as I think it's more articles and news than a radio department and DJs doin them. When myself and martin managed, it was always meant to be done by news.
Room reviews are great. However, the articles dept was closed and myself and luckily people still in news like Joey have been here for a while and we know the reasons outlined for it's closure and we need to make sure those mistakes are not followed. Similarly to real life news, considering real life was removed for a reason.
This will be interesting but I have faith in Charlie and am sure he'll achieve it.

It's a major development because it's an exciting new department that should give the site a fresh outlook.
From what i've heard Habbo content isn't a priority but it isn't going to be frowned upon either. Yes, some weeks there may be more Room Reviews than stories but at the end of the day you can't please everyone. It's all about balance. What's different this time around is that no other fansite really offers this and it is something I think will really boost readership. As long as the articles engage and excite the readers I can't see it being anything but positive.
Right now, it's a good idea on paper. The sooner it's in action the better so I can't wait for when it swings around.
yep, seems pointless to post habbo related content on a habbo fansite. i'm pretty sure no decisions have been made about the type of content that would be provided by this department, and what it focuses on, but you have absolutely no idea what the articles would be like so don't be so quick to criticise and judge charlie's decisions before you have even seen what they are.I wanted to apply when they came around but I won't be. you can be my daddy
I don't know who said that the main focus of the Articles team would be Habbo. Of course, just like the News team report real life news there will be Habbo related articles but it will not be our main priority for Articles. There wont be many more (if any) Habbo related articles than the ones stated in the above quote from the original announcement. The Articles Team will be here to write for your entertainment, they will focus around recurring articles such as original and creative writing, room reviews and interviews on Habbo, stories, poetry and much more! They will also provide you with one off articles such as TV, album and book reviews.
