Person X wants to date Person Y and tries to form a relationship with Y by being all flirty and nice and all that.
Person Y doesn't feel that way for X and says something along the lines of "you're a really good friend."
Person X realises that all his/her efforts have resulted in forming a friendship with Y instead of a relationship - he/she is in the "Friendzone"

That's what the friendzone is meant to be i believe.

i was always labouring under the impression from definitions people irl and online have given me in the past that it can also include when you fancy a friend and they don't know about it as well, whether or not they are interested in you because nothing is happening because neither of you are speaking up, just leaving it as a friendship while you still have feelings for them, in which case surely it exists lol?

if we go by including that definition though then yes i am currently in it lol

@subo; it can go 3 ways: don't develop friendship, friends or potential for more. when i meet someone I JUST KNOW if i could fancy them and if i don't but still like them we can be friends. but sometimes they end up liking you, it's not really a zone.
i think it's kinda rude for ppl to say its a zone, as tho ur friendship isn't good enough. idk how to explain rly but yeah. Monique is being very contradictory asking have u placed anyone in the zone then saying it's simply when one person likes the other who doesn't like them. so is being friends with someone who likes u placing them in the zone? u might not even realise they like u? so idgi. do u only place them in 'the zone' when u reject them n say sorry we're only friends?

N @FlyingJesus; and @wixard; do u remember that theory about boys and girls can't be friends without wanting to **** each other? cause if u saw the guys I rejected ud understand why they were only friends. or was it that eventually one person wants to **** the other?

You just called me a good friend you **** lol and yeah the theory was that at least one party will want it, which means my bff's gf totally wants my rhythm stick omf I've nearly eaten this whole chocolate orange in like 5 minutes
