Most of the actors being named here are celebrated and established actors. Acclaim doesn't come from nowhere. This is just another one of those threads on here where people post lists as their answers and that's it. It would be interesting to see some justifications for these answers.

'Overrated' basically = 'they are very popular and successful but I personally don't like them'. Hipster mentality lol. Is anyone going to actually explain why they think Jennifer Lawrence is an 'overrated' actor, or are we just gonna dig at her personality??

Exactly what language are you looking for when you want someone to explain why she's not that great an actress? There isn't a scoresheet that you can use with rating someone's acting talent, there's simply nothing there that wows. She does the job and speaks from the script but she doesn't make it as believable as a lot of truly great actors - basically she still always looks like she's acting, when the point of acting well is to look like you're really that character

It would just make better conversation if instead of just listing actors who are well known but you don't like, you explained your reasoning. for example i disagree with the suggestion that johnny depp is over rated because I think he's brilliant. the fact that in many cases one might say "is that johnny depp?!" suggests that he is so good at putting himself into a role to the extent that very few of his own characteristics are shown - something which isn't always the case with other actors.
