I'm sure that can be altered or whatever, would just be a nicer, friendlier, personal touch.
Yup, obviously most mods are approachable and a lot of new members do often PM back, I had a chat today with a new member who had his avatar of himself, he was fully willing to comply and remove the avatar but wondered why, obviously the PMs after the initial PM aren't recorded so I can't tell you if other mods do this too, but I'd like to think they do

It's hard to add specific sentences when all mods write in their own style, but obviously Super Moderators are kind of "role models" do the lower mods, so I'm sure if we start doing it they will pick up on it and start doing it too

    Thanks for suggestions.

Well, I'm sure Matt or Garion could ask you to do it, you'd all comply. Then it'd become standard over time and nobody would imagine life without the friendly line at the end of the PM

Which means that becomes automated ready for the new thread to start the cycle all over again

I agree, those example PMs you provided looked intimidating. They just look like 'Hi, these are the rules, follow them'. While it's obviously your job, you've got to go easy then get tougher if multiple rule-breaking starts to occur.

Yeah I agree, and if the line isn't there, hell shall break loose in the Feedback forum

Matt's posted asking for "friendly" PMs, we've never been specifically instructed as what to write and I think it would be wrong to give specific instructions, as then we could just get to the same problem of PMs sounding robotic, or template.

I think it'll be interesting to see what mods to do PMs following Matt's push for friendly PMs.

Well, it'll be interesting to me because I like noticing changes like that :p

i'm a new member and i'd gladly be more active on here but i always get destroyed by the moderator's for doing things that are acceptable on another place where i know the rules inside out, as i'm an admin.

I think it's stupid as well, (OMG GOOD SONG ON RADIO) going back to the point, I pointless posted once when I was new and I got a "TELLING OFF" but it was quite nice, but if ur too easy on new members they'll do it again, not give the an infraction but like, try to be stern I'm sure if ur a good member you won't give the mods abuse.

The reason shiz isn't filtered is the same reason "muck", "ducking" and "funt" aren't filtered. But if you said to someone "Muck off you ducking funt" you can bet that I would class that as avoiding the filter. It all depends on context. I guess if someone were to say "I hate the work and all the shiz that comes with college" it wouldn't really be bad but if you were to say "You're talking a load of shiz" it woud be. I think its best to let moderators use their discretion.

I reckon lmfao can be unfiltered but gtfo and stfu and things such as that will always remain filtered. And I think, even though its entirely made up, I'll filter FOM just cus its annoying.

On the subject of polite PM's, back when I was a mod (lol) this is how I always set them out:

    Hey [User],

    Re: Post

The post you made here was breaking the rules so it has been removed. Please could you see that it does not happen again or further action may be taken.

    Thanks,
    Robbie
