Adults in Habbo

Started playin when i was 10 im now 19 almost 20. I know like 3 ppl who have kids nd still play so yeh it doesnt rly bother me much at all. Habbo for life man

I originally joined in 2001, due to being recommended by a friend, I think I lasted two weeks before I stopped going on since it was all BETA and the community was dead during the Australian time zone. So I rejoined in 2002 under a different name since my original is and was too embarrassing to use; and I basically did the same as you, Brawl! I used to hang out in Quarterback's HPD mainly, doing some Lido diving (we may have came across each other since it was such a small community!) and then made my way to newsbox owned by Karn. I had the same name on UK as I do now. Instead of US, I was amongst the first users of Habbo Australia in 2004, BETA testing and then went on to be part of the eXpert program, guide leader and once all that finished I stopped playing for a few years since there wasn't much to do. The decline of players and the separate communities now merged, it was difficult to catch up with my UK friends since I was on AU.
Only recently now, I've been active again and still find it interesting to play. It's a shame that the players I knew back then, are no longer active and I never got communicate with them out of Habbo since that was a big no-no. As others have said, the community, no matter what age are usually interesting to talk to. There's only a small amount of players who do make a big deal out of it (that you're an older player) but they're the ones who enjoy to troll other users.
Most people I speak to find it interesting that I was around back in the beginning and they ask me certain questions about what it was like back then. But in all honesty, it doesn't matter what age you play. I think as long as you have a life balance, then you're completely fine.

I'm 23 and I've been using Habbo since 2002. Generally I just build my rooms or try to speak and hang with people of a similar age/ mindset. Nothing against the youngers personally, I just don't have anything in common with them.

Unfortunately I don't feel I can go in 18+ rooms regularly anymore. They were ok but now appear to mostly be full of people who just lie a lot on the internet. All you get is people talking about how much weed they smoke or how much weight they lift or lads getting really creepy, pervy and cringey over females again and again and again and again. It is a shame!

Like a few others have said, it's somewhat harder to integrate with others when you're older.. it's not like you can ask who's older so you can have a good conversation!

Maybe there should be 18+ Habbox events to let us oldies (a) celebrate being oldies and (b) to get that interaction!

For the record, I joined Habbo aged 13. Judging from others responses, doesn't look like anyone randomly joined at 25! It's people that joined as a teen and can't leave!

I walked past my cousin playing once in the lido. I asked him what it was. Went home. Tried it. Probably say 8 yrs later and i'm still here. I just can't kick the addiction of Habbo.

I find it comes and it goes, like i wont play for 6 months but then i'll be all "oh, wonder if {Such person} is still on" - "Oh wonder how the rpg scene is doing", before you know it im back and playing again.

I don't frown upon adults using Habbo. In fact, I assume most of the people who joined Habbo 6-10 years ago are now becoming, or already are, adults. Age has nothing to do with how much you enjoy a pastime. There are activities on Habbo that appeal to any age group--designing, socializing and collecting furni. To say you can't enjoy something anymore because you've turned 18 is ridiculous. I think of Habbo as a more colourful, friendly version of other MMORPGs like WoW or Runescape which are still used by adults and which you would receive less judgment for playing as an adult. Heck, even Neopets has a large adult demographic.

I think most people assume adults on Habbo are socializing with kids 10 or 20 years their junior. News flash: many adults on Habbo socialize within their own age group. Ever been to an 18+ room? Yep, that's where you'll find most of them. It's not like they're seducing young children in dating or party rooms (though it's probably fair to say that a small minority are). We shouldn't label all adults on Habbo as losers who need "lives" or pedofiles who are preying on younger children.

Now, although I see nothing wrong with using Habbo as an adult, I think there are situations where you should draw the line. If Habbo has started to interfere with your growth into an adult (i.e. post-secondary education or work) I think it is time to log off and call it quits. Habbo used in conjunction with a healthy life is perfectly fine, but when you are an adult who hasn't established yourself in the world and who is still using Habbo for many hours a day, I think there is something wrong. However, I would say the same thing about a teenager or child who's life has been taken over by Habbo. At any age it is wrong, but as an adult it can be more destructive.

I am 20 now. I log into Habbo regularly to keep up with badges or invest in new furniture. I will log in, earn any new badges for the day and check marketplace values, and then log right off. I no longer have an attachment to the site and certainly don't have anyone I would consider a "good friend" left to talk to. There is no longer a social dimension to my time spent on Habbo, and that is just fine with me. I think there comes a time when you look at the people around you and realize how ignorant their ideas and thoughts about the world are. For me, that time came last year. It also doesn't help that the quality of service on Habbo has gone down the toilet, but that's another story altogether.
