Of course there is different things that should be considered when judging someone's acting talent... Yeah a 'scoresheet' if you wanna call it that. I hardly think it's as simple as just being 'believable'.

But well done u explained your opinion regarding her abilities instead of just saying "she's overrated" and attacking her personality

I thought she does good in Hunger Games but I'm not certain if that's cos she's naturally gifted at acting or she is just naturally disconnected from everything. I like to think the former because she's very down-to-earth and I love that about her.

I'll say Alan Rickman, people like his voice but I just get annoyed that... he stops.... at... random places... every sentence and that somehow makes it good acting. It's very distracting.

PREACH. love the stuff she does in movies, love her as a person. yes she can be slightly hypocritical, and not all of her views on weight and beauty are brilliant (as they're still reinforcing that there is an ideal weight [hers]) but i think she's pretty great.

but then again overrated could be a personal opinion, so i respect that YOU personally don't rate these people that high, but belittling some of their (good) work and talents is a lil mean. like overrated is kinda hard, because everyone's gonna think differently. like if your favourite actor was mainly known for indie films and things, and doesn't get much (critical) acclaim, then you're probably going to think they're underrated. however it's because of their career path and success that gets them to their current acclaim, so to say someone like jennifer lawrence is BAD is ridiculous, as she just wouldn't have won an oscar, or any of the awards she has won.

don't really know who i think is OVERRATED as to me it's kinda dumb. like i don't get how a person can be overrated.

i just want to point out that some of her scenes in slp were really great. like she PLAYED the role of her character well, no good criticizing the personality of the character when that wasn't her choice.

that's crazy good (to me, anyway). although i don't feel like i'm one to really judge acting, or anything, as i've no experience. but dem facial expressions. i guess i'm slightly bias seeing as SLP is my favourite movie. (well, one of my favourites)

and karter i've seen you mention (in a different thread) that emmanuelle riva's acting in Amour was oscar worthy. totally agree, she was AMAZING. however i do believe there's years where many actors/actresses/film peoplez work is oscar worthy, yet because they're competing in the awards, only one person can win it....

Oh I forgot about Helena Bonham Carter (usually I try not to think about her), prob the most boring flat and typecast actor of all time but all the *+*aLTerNaTiiVe*+* kids in the art courses seem to love her
