I spotted atleast two mistakes in Shinsen's sub myself, but watch gSS's sub for perfection. Official subs need help with their encoding as well. The subtitles are out of place and timed very poorly on my Ghost in the Shell SAC DVD.

Honorifics are not necessary? Let me quote Del Rey manga here...
"Honorifics can be expressions of respect or endearment. In the context of manga and anime, honorifics give insight into the nature of the relationship between characters. Many translations into English leave out these important honorifics, and therefore distort the 'feel' of the original Japanese."
    Honorifics are essential.

GitS DVD was done by an American company, thus the crappy translations. Bones has done their best to keep FMA in line with the users request. That's why they are doing the official subs 4 days after each airing. Even before they are officially dubbed in English and brought to the Western Market.

They are doing this for the viewers request. There is no money making scheme right here. Also, why do you think they are rebooting the series? For the sake of the fan's. They are doing it because the 1st Anime and Manga are completely different from eachother.

Either way, you cannot judge something that has not even been issued out. Just wait until Wednesday for the release video stream.

Of course, Honorifics do add respect to the name. But I'm pretty sure people can obviously hear the added -kun, -sensei, -niisan, etc. It's something that people do not need to see to know its there. Like I said before, just wait until the official sub is out.

Ghost in the Shell was done by Manga Entertainment, yes it's an American company, but it's also supposedly one of the best anime distribution companies worldwide. Never did I state their translations were off anyway, only their encoding. Plus surely an American company can provide high quality translations since they actually understand the English language. By the way, Bones aren't a distribution company. They're a production company. You sure they're even doing the subtitles? The only Japanese company I know of that provides subtitles is Kadokawa, and that's only for their series' on YouTube.

They're rebooting the series because they know there is money involved. Yep, the first series is different from that manga. That's perfect for them, now they can make another series and earn a nice profit. The only companies that produce programmes for the 'fans' are public service broadcasters, such as the BBC over here, I don't know what you have in California. Besides them, NO company would make something just for the fans. NO company would. That would be a bad marketing decision, and have you noticed how much money they're spending on the new series? A lot. We're in a recession here, do you really think they'll make something without profit in mind?

Well actually I can judge based on past releases, and that's exactly what I'm doing.

What if the viewer is watching a Japanese programme for the first time? How the hell are they going to know what to listen out for? Plus I shouldn't have to pay attention to what the characters are saying, I speak English, not Japanese. Therefore I focus on the subtitles, not what's being said. By saying "It's something that people do not need to see to know it's there" do you mean it's something you do not need to see to know it's there? It's funny because you're trying to tell me that official subs are better than fansubs and at the same time you're trying to argue that it's ok for the official subs to leave the honorifics out, even though it's actually a good thing to keep them in. Contradictory much?

    Good episode again!

However i preferred the first anime's way of showing how their mum died, that was so sad. Also how they met their teacher.

    But it was still awesum

Some of the stuff from the second episode was not in the manga. :S It seems like they're trying to be as different from the original series as possible, but doing so they're missing the point. Being different from the first series is not following the manga at all, since the first series actually did follow it up until around episode 20. A little disappointing compared to the first episode, but good nevertheless. Not the best new episode this week however.
