My apologies, I meant 'should I pay for my licence or not, I'm going to watch TV anyway' although I worded it incorrectly.

Again, that isn't what I said.

My mom and dad split my schooling costs. My dad pays our tuition and my mom pays the mortgage on the house and all other expenses. We go to the same school so my mom figured it would be a lot cheaper to buy a house instead of paying rent for 4 people to somebody else. So the house is $2500 a month including bills.

    Housing: $30000
Tuition for me and my 3 brothers: $18000
Tuition for my sister (international student): $12000
Residence for Ashley: $4500 (so she can meet people)
so this year just for schooling related expenses it's close to $65000.

that doesn't include books, food, spending money, gas, insurance..

    Thank god for savings!!
I'm at a point in my life where I don't care if you like me or you don't. If you like me, cool. If you don't, meh.

Since when. I hate it when people who claim downloading films are illegal but TV shows are fine.

If it was legal to download tv shows after airing then why would they bother selling the DVDs?

Might be worth noting, if you watch a video on iPlayer while it is live it asks if you have a tv license. If you don't watch live, it doesn't ask..

You wouldn't necessarily find programs aired on the TV in a store. Really old programs, that you wouldn't find on the shelves or on the iplayers, then you would look to download it to watch it again.

You pay for your tv license, to be able to watch tv programs, therefore effectively paying to watch that program through different ways, and so it makes it legal to download the program once it has been shown already.

While some programs might be hard to get hold of as far as I know its still illegal. Of course the chances of getting caught are slim.

Personally I don't see the problem people have at Uni. You can use your parent's home TV license if you simply unplug your laptop whilst watching live TV.
