http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w.../feature-packsIf your PC is running Windows 8 Pro and you'd like to get Windows 8 Media Center Pack so you can watch and record live TV with Windows Media Center, you can take advantage of the following special offer:
You enter your email etc and wait. They don't seem to have sent the keys out or any information on it after you have entered your emails. I assume they will start doing so in the next couple of days or something?
Decided to install it after I saw this start8 stuff. Works great.
I've been using the RC for quite some time now but the other day I reinstalled the free copy I get from the University. I definitely need to do this ASAP though:
I'm not crazy, ask my toaster.

I've got it on my University Dreamspark, but judging by what I've seen on reviews and people actually using it, it's not a computer OS, it's a tablet OS. Microsoft tried to be like Apple and create some continuity but they've overdone it, Mac OSX doesn't look exactly like iOS and for good reason. I think it's almost lazy on Microsoft's behalf, especially the fact they removed the start menu in what looks to be a deliberate forcing of people to use the Metro menu (which for touch screen users is nice, but for keyboard+mouse users is majorly unnecessary).
This is just another in the sequence of how Win 2000 was rubbish, Win XP was great, Win Vista was rubbish, Win 7 was great, Win 8 is rubbish so judging by that, the next release of Windows should be good.
I'll keep windows 7 for now and just accept my fate in the future when w8 rolls out on laptops
prob keep w7 on my computer til the non upgrade package comes out
We'll see how Windows 8 performs when we found out how many copies have been sold. People need to get over the fact that things change and yes the start menu has gone. You can easily get used to the start screen or even use 3rd party software to give you alternative. Vista was only an issue due to drivers and performance wasn't that great to the start - Is that a problem with Windows 8? No. You could say it even performs even better than 7 in a way.I've got it on my University Dreamspark, but judging by what I've seen on reviews and people actually using it, it's not a computer OS, it's a tablet OS.
