I could live without the start menu, but it's the idea that metro UI is in essence replacement for the start menu which irritates me. That's a interface for touchscreen users not keyboard & mouse users. I don't think it'll break any records Windows 7 set. We'll see how Windows 8 performs when we found out how many copies have been sold. People need to get over the fact that things changed and yes the start menu has gone. You can easily get used to the start screen or even use 3rd partry software to give you alternative.
It really isn't much of a problem as some people make out. Yes it's designed for touch but it works just as well with a keyboard and mouse.
The Start Menu was designed for keyboard & mouse. Metro UI was designed for touch. Don't touch it if it ain't broken is all I'm saying.

Wow. I was only making a point that their idea of a universal UI hasn't been implemented in a way that it's very user-friendly to every device. Watch the video below to get what I mean.
You can add a start menu as well as the metro UI you know using an addon program called Pokki. It also looks a lot nicer than the old Windows Start menu so that's no reason for not upgrading![]()

When will they be selling a full retail version? Not just an upgrade
You can actually do a full clean install with the upgrade keyThe Windows 7 cheat still works in Windows 8

I don't believe Microsoft will be doing a full retail version. If you really wanted "Full" then you can get he OEM or the System builder edition. But the upgrade version as @Intricat; said above works via a clean install anyway.
