    History of Guthix:

First inhabitant and creator of Runescape's beauty (he did NOT create Glienor [Runescape]). He slept for more than 1000 years, When he awoke, he found that his brothers Zamorak and Saradomin had arrived, leaving Guthix to balance out the world of Runecape once again. Guthix found Glienor as an empty space. He did not actually create Glienor, he just moderated what he had found into Runescape.

    History of Zamorak:

Zamorak was once a Warlord in a tribe know as the Mahjarrat. The Mahjarrat were a race of people who followed the God Zaros. The Mahjarrat were wanderers who did not live anywhere. Rumor has it they wandered the
ShantayDesert for a long period of time.
Not long after, Zamorak decided he wanted more power and betrayed the God Zaros, and rose into power himself, to become known as the God of Chaos: Zamorak.
The Mahjarrat tribe are thought to be from a distant land, known as 'Freneskae'.

    History of Saradomin:

Saradomin first entered Glienor on the
island of Entrana and is the God mainly worshipped throughout Glienor. He is the opposite to Zamorak. (More to come shortly)

    History of Zaros:

Zaros came to the world of Runescape shortly after Guthix, along with his brother Armadyl. Later on he would lead a race of near Immortals called the Mahjarrat. Among these 'immortals' was the soon to be God/betrayer to Zaros.
During Zamorak worked to banish Zaros...

...At the moment, the only thing we know about where Zaros was banished to is that he *could possibly* be in the North East as an Npc claims that a God residing there is in need of the Staff of Armadyl.
This is the other information we have gathered about Zaros' banishing- Zamorak gathered his most trusted and strongest warriors, including the human swordsman Viggora (a Ghost found in the new Mini-game), the Mahjarrat Zemourgal, the Elder Demon Thammaron (The Golem) and the Vampire Lord Drakan and invaded the place Zaros was at (possibly a temple).
This means that not only Zamorak will do anything to prevent Zaros' return, but the Warriors who fought beside him, aiding Zaros' defeat.
Other people Zaros wants revenge upon include the people of Avvarocka (Varrok) who rebelled against him during Zamorak's rising. Azzandra always remained loyal.

    History of Armadyl:

Armadyl is one of Saradomin's (Armadyl was once more powerful than Saradomin) noble brethren, although they differ on minor points and his interests lie elsewhere.
From what we know, the last time another God contacted Armadyl he was found to be trying to help a few noble supporters who remain in Ikov, although the loss of his mighty staff has rendered him damaged and weak, he still has pockets of support throughout Runescape.
Armadyl had nothing to do with the banishing of Zaros, suggesting the battle was not the cause of him going into hiding.

    History of Icthlarian:

Icthlarian is God of the Dead and is worshipped by the Menaphite race. His main followers are the people of Sophanem. Icthlarian is not nearly as evil as he sounds, he is just mainly concerned with souls passing between the world of the living, and the world of the dead. He once lead the Mahjrrat tribe.

    History of Amascut:

Very little is known of Amascut. We find out during 'Ictlarian's little helper' she is the goddess of destruction.
only fearful of cats, Amascut will do anything to destroy things.
Her opnly support is the Menaphite thugs who inhabit the Desert.

    History of Seren:
When the elves passed through the world gate, Seren was there to greet them and told them that "only together as eight clans can we hope to survive in this hostile new land". From there they made the city of prifddinas into an octagon, a corner for each clan.
These 8 corners joined up and met at the
Tower of Voices where they could forever listen to the words of Seren.
    Seren is Welsh-Gaelic for 'Star'.

    History of Iban:

Iban is believed to be Zamoraks own son who was picked by the Chaos God to defend the
UndergroundPass. However, events that unfold during the Regicide quest prove this theory quite wrong .
If King Lathas was working for Zamorak, why would he send Iban there? Perhaps he had grown tired of Iban's growing power and wanted him dead? Or maybe Lathas really is working for Zaros and Iban was sent into the underground pass as someway of stopping Zaros' return, which we all know is greatly feared by Zamorak after he betrayed him. Though we think he is destroyed, there are rumors he may still be alive.

~ History of Powerful Beings ~

    History of Lucien:

With the release of the Ghost-Mini Quest, we are able to confirm that Lucien works for Zamorak.
Zamorak originally obtained the Staff of Armadyl which was then enchanted by a Saradomist Mage (Zamorak and Saradomin working together...) so that Zaros could not sense it.
Lucien was not present at the battle between Zamorak and Zaros and has since returned, searching for the Staff again. But what could he need it for this time... I'm sure you can guess.
A Ghost you speak to during the Mini-quest claims that he knows of a God residing in the North East who would greatly benefit from the Staff- Possibly Zaros, but most likely Armadyl.

    History of Hazeel:

He is one of the last remaining 'Near-Immortals' but is worshipped by his cult as a god, so must be classified a demi-god to. There are few known followers but if you choose to help the cult in the quest then he is resurrected and says he will get his 'revenge soon'. Perhaps he will have a part to play in the 'god war' too?
Hazeel's symbol is the same as Zamorak's, but is gold.

Hazeel is thought to be a worshipper of Zamorak so therefore would have to be very high in the ranks of the Chaos God to receive such great power. Hazeel is a member of the Mahjarrat.

The Information about Ikov is 100% true, although we are not sure whether he is a Major or Demi God.
(Credit to Miamistorm 7 for the info on Ikov)

    History of Ikov:

Not much is known about him apart from the fact that he is a part time ally with Armadyl as Armadyl and his followers protect his
Temple, The Temple of Ikov. Also, Ikov is thought to be one of Saradomin's 'sons'.

    History of Zemouregal:

Zemouregal is a member of the Mahjarrat
tribe. We know very little about Zemouregal, apart from what we find out in the 'Legend of Arrav 2'.
As Arrav wondered the land of Dreams, a hooded man going by the name of Zemouregal approached him and told him that Avvarocka (Varrok) would be overthrown because of Arrav, through Zemouregal's mighty power.
Fearing this, Arrav left and went on a quest to recover the mighty Shield of Arrav...

    History of Azzandra:
During the Desert Treasure quest, you release Azzandra from a pyramid where he has been sealed away. He is the champion warrior of Zaros and fought in the God Wars. His spirit was divided into four and locked in a huge Pyramid, sealed away through the four Diamonds which you must recover during the quest. He is a Mahjarrat.

    ~ History of Spirits ~

    History of Arzinian:
Though believed to be the Avatar of Zaros and a very powerful follower of the Evil God, very little is know of Arzinian. He is released from a flaming symbol of Zaros in the 'Between a Rock...' quest and is called 'Arzinian, Avatar of Magic'. However, Arzinian is also thought to be the Avatar of a Demon who works for the God.

    History of Lady of the
    Lake:
    During the 'Merlin's
Crystal' quest she gives you the Excalibur. For more information on the Lady of the Lake I would suggest researching King Arthur and Excalibur.

    History of Thamarron:
The demon general of Zamorak's armies. He fought in the god wars. He destroyed Uzer and was wounded by the golems defending it.

    History of Rashilya:
The queen of the dead Rashilya is a powerful spirit who you must stop in the
ShiloVillage quest. She leads an army of Undeads upon Shilo but there is a solution to prevent anymore deaths. Do the quest to learn more.

    History of Scorpius:
A powerful ghost who fights for Zamorak. Scorpius can be found near the Castle Wars Arena at an eerie shrine to Zamorak.

    History of Necrovarus:
Necrovarus is an angry spirit who controls the passing of the People of Port Phasmatys between the world of living and the dead. During the Ghosts Ahoy quest, you must find a way to persuade Necrovarus to change his mind about stopping all Ghosts from passing to the next life.

    History of Kendal:
Kendal is the Bear God of the Mountains. Though we have no first hand 'evidence' of Kendal, an evil man does decide to disguise himself as the God during the Mountain Daughter quest and murders several of the Nomads who broke away from the Fremennik tribe in the past.
Though we know of this imitator, we have very little info on Kendal.

    History of Randas:
Randas was a mighty Warrior who was taken by Zamorak as he wondered the
UndergroundPass. Zamorak persuaded Randas into joining him and forced Randas to do terrible things. Randas offered his blood to Zamorak in order to gain more power, but what Zamorak offered him proved to much, causing Randas to loose his mind.
    Apparently now he wonders the
    UndergroundPass as an emotionless zombie.

    History of Sir Leye:
    In the
Recruitment Drive quest, you must fight a Warrior who cannot be defeated by any man. The reason for this is that he is 'blessed' by Saradomin- meaning that Sir Leye is linked with Saradomin.

The Mahjarrat tribe are a powerful group of men, priests and warriors who once wondered Runescape as slaves to their God. Although the tribe still exists, they are thought to be in exile somewhere, waiting for the right time to launch one of their evil plans.
The Mahjarrat tribe are thought to be from a distant land, known as 'Freneskae'.

When they first arrived on Glienor, they were enslaved by Icthlarian until they were freed by Zaros.
Most follow the God Zamorak, although a tiny group of them including Azzandra remain loyal to Zaros and are thought to be working on releasing him from his prison, in which he was sealed away by Zamorak and Saradomin.
Very little was written on the Mahjarrat, making their mysterious past even more clouded.

The name of the realm from which they come is unconfirmed, Freneskae being a rough translation of it.

Zamorak was once a member of the Mahjarrat, starting life as a Priest, until he performed a terrible deed in which he became a God.

Other members of the tribe include:

    Hazeel
    Azzandra
    Zemouregal
    Lucien

During the God Wars, six warriors fought side by side inorder to vanquish evil. Perhaps the mightiest Warriors the land has ever seen, these all powerful men could vanquish the strongest of foe.

    Their names were-
Ahrim (the Blighted) (The oldest of the brothers)
    Karil (the Tainted)
    Guthan (the Infested)
    Dharok (the Wretched)
    Verac (the defiled)
    Torag (the corrupted)

As the God wars progressed and the brothers moved into the heart of the enemy's territory, a strange, hooded and silent figure began to appear during the heat of their battles.
This occurance happened a few times, and each time, the brothers got weaker, and lost their immense focus and battle prowess, until, one night they took their final breaths and died.

The remaining armies decided they could do no more and constructed 6 Tombs, or Barrows for each of the brothers and buried them. They then turned and marched out of Morytania where they had for so long battled with evil.
But as they left, the stranger who had caused the Brothers demise appeared on top of the central mound (Ahrim's Barrow) and cast a great light from within his outstretched arms.

For the full story, read the 'Crumbling Tome' found at the Barrows.

    What does the story mean?
Well, we know that when they died they were in the heart of the evil's lands which was Morytania (because the Barrows are found here).

Morytania is thought to be the
land of Zamorak, although the area has been linked with Zaros, due to signs such as the road shapes of Mort'ton and the designs of the graves near Canifis etc.

This means that the Brothers either worked for:

~Saradomin if Morytania is Zamorak's land <---Most likely
~Armadyl if Morytania is Zaros' land
~They worked for no one except what is good

This is intresting because we know that Varrok was one of Zaros' main towns and was possibly once joined together with Morytania, although that is getting off the topic of the 6 Brothers.

Although the Brothers fought for good and not evil, their spirits have become evil and are 'possesed by Dark Magic', thus the names in brackets in the list above.
When the mysterious figure made his final appearence upon Ahrim's tomb, he could have possibly cursed the 6 Brothers with the magic in order to make them the vengeful and hateful spirits they are today.

    The Mysterious Figure-
    Who could he be?

~Zemerougel (Possibly a servant of Zaros or Zamorak)
~One of the other members of the Mahjarrat

The Legend is very intresting as it opens up alot of 'doors' or 'pathways' as to who were the domanant figures during the Wars, and, establishes further links between Zaros/Zamorak and Morytania.

The Elder Dragons are *currently* no more than a strange myth.
Books tell of a race of mighty creatures who inhabited Glienor before any one else, including the great Guthix.
They were thought to be 'born' at the same time as Glienor. Their life force is thought to be bound to the Earth.
If they do exist somewhere, then they must have been what kept Glienor from destruction during the God Wars. Perhaps they even fought in the God Wars.
If Zaros is to return in the near future, another God war could be on the horizon.
Pehraps the Elder Dragons will once again be awakened?
Myths say that as long as they live, Glienor cannot be destroyed, but if Zaros does escape you can't doubt that he will be happy to battle the Dragons if it means destroying Glienor

The Dragon Kin are thought to be a group of powerful creatures (unlikely to be mortal) who tamed the Elder Dragons and joined forces to create a power that could forever defend Glienor from defeat. During the 'Tail of Two Cats' quest you get to see a Dragonkin and learn more about them. I would recommend doing this quest.
