God spells - don't hit as much?

I was just messing around with various god spells (charged) and the highest I managed to hit was 20. Normally I would be hitting far higher, just wondered if anyone is having the same thing? I was wearing - Ahrims hood, top, bottom and wizard boots + mystic gloves, so I had pretty good magic bonuses too. I've now alched my staffs in disgust.

How much you get from alching them?

48k each, I don't use them anyway so it was a waste keeping them.

Is your magic level higher then the god spell requirement? I've noticed if you're just able to use a spell it wont hit as much as your previous spell.

I'm not familiar with the term, I have no been payed subscription to runescape before, and I just started playing again. Is this new from rs2? because I haven't realy played since it came out except now.

Charged is what the staff needs to be before you can use it outside the mage arena
