I did this by accident after you updated VB on your forums and I thought I was seing things... But now I know how to do it.
How long is this for? 10 minutes?

Yea i knew that ages ago I was trying to explain it to Teal lols it last fors 15minutes the time you have for editing

you can only edit the thread by the edit button to change the thread name.. i think

It is an AJAX (asynchronous Javascript and XML) feature in the new vBulletin 3.5.x series, it does work.
