ChMod Help.

Well, I don't Know which section to post this in so i chose this one, Well i'm trying to install a mybb forum for a friend through cpanel, I got to install.and i get to requirements and it ses Error

The MyBB Requirements check failed due to the reasons below. MyBB installation cannot continue because you did not meet the MyBB requirements. Please correct the errors below and try again:

• The avatars directory (uploads/avatars/) is not writable. Please adjust the chmod permissions to allow it to be written to.

I've adjusted the chmod to write and it still doesn't work, any tips? or someone that can help, many thanks'

Hey,

If it wants too be writable then normally it would be 777 or something like 776.

I'm not a CHMODD'ng genius but thats the normal paramaters that writable needs.

If the problem persists then if you have cPanel with Pre-Installed Scripts, then set up an IPB ( Invision Power Board ) in which it sets it up for you. IPB in my choice are a whole lot better than MyBB.

nahh ,i have lot's of ipbs, and it don't have scripts library, plus, i'm gana try 776 still dunt work =]

Hey,

Can I say, you may want too try going through each CHMOD possibility and seeing if it's an error, as 777 should work.

If you don't want too waste your time doing this then maybe contact the MyBB technical staff and ask them what your supposed to CHMOD the Avatars and other stuff to.

Hmm this is puddling.

I think maybe either you are doing something wrong or the board is kind of messed up.

I've never used a MyBB otherwise I could be of more help, i'm more of an IPB/VB kind of guy.

All I can say is Contact MyBB.
