The old "my friend" trick eh?
If "he's" self harming, punch him.

    The advice id give is:
Get some ice, squeeze it in your hands for a long period of time, trust me it hurts like hell, if your .. friend, likes pain, and selfharms for pain, that could work, if your friend does it to see blood, tell him to get some hot water, and mix it with red colouring and pour it were your friend would usually selfharm (if cutting), it hurts like hell aswell, but make sure its not TOO hot, make it warm, as its blood your friends wanting to see, not pain.
If your friend selfharms because of coping issues, tell your friend too punch a pillow, get some of those boxing stuff and punch the hell outta the dummy, or, your friend could play full blast music and scream into his pillow, that works, but prepare for a headache.
If those dont work, id advice him to get real life help, and/or talk too someone, as that expresses his feelings and makes him more confident.
    Hope ive helped,

You can't tackle this problem dude. A serious matter like this cannot be left with just you. If you are the only person who knows about this, tell someone else. Tell your parents or your friend's parents.

It doesn't matter how much damage he is causing to himself. Imagine if he died because he slit his wrists and you didn't tell no-one. You would be left with a hell of a lot of guilt and eventually, you will emotionally breakdown. If he continues, just tell someone.

If you don't want to, you will be making a big mistake. Addictions grow and grow, until some consequence occurs. If you do tell someone now, you will be preventing something bad happening and a few years down the line, your friend will thank-you for it.

Like Arisham said, if your the only one that knows. Get him to tell his parents or maybe tell them yourself. Also tell him to try and channel all the depression or anger into something else.

Maybe punching stuff which can't harm them, Taking up a hobby, something to try and take their mind off the problem. Maybe, you could sit them down and talk to them about the problem, you then could try and help them or it may help them talking to someone about it.

    Hope it helps.
