Valentino Rossi to Formula 1?

For around a year now there has been speculation that Valentino Rossi is on his way to Formula 1 in a Ferrari.
This was supposed to happen next year but at the moment he is currently 6th in the table with only 40 points. Stoner, Melandri, Pedrosa, Capirossi and Hayden are all ahead of him.
There are still loads and loads of races and points to come yet, but Rossi has already retired from 2 races and has yet to win a race.
So we may not see him move to Formula 1 at the end of this year, it all depends on if he wins the championship as there is no way of him leaving Moto GP without winning the championship yet again.
