I have to write a 'short' story (about 600 words or more) i want it to be fantasy based with elfs and dragons etc. ANY plot ideas for a short fantasy story would be great because im like brain dead

Those set limit short stories are the worst, I reckon because it's quite hard to write a whole story, good, in that much space.
As for a plot, Buh! No idea sorry ^^

base it on a mystical river.... that 1 day someone falls into and open a gateway to another dimension and in the dimension there are elves and fairys there but on the dark side of the country theres the dreaded orc kingdom and the elves and fairys have been locked in a fierce war with the orcs for 1000's of years and the story could be you helping them to defeat the orcs ??? just a quick thought
