If writing competitions aren't your thing perhaps you should take a look at the new You Pixel Too challenges to improve pixelling skills.---

You could just get a habbo and recolour it to look pirate like or Navy like.
Then maybe add a few things like scars or badges or a gold trimmed hat to make it suit more.
The tasks are all about improving your pixel skills so just take the plunge.---
