    Default Colon or semicolon

Hi, i'm writing a poem for some school work. but i'm unsure whether to use a colon or a semicolon.

    Because it all ends.
    Everything; civilisation.

    OR

    Because it all ends.
    Everything: civilisation.

Please does anyone know which one it is?

a colon because a sentence follows a semi colon

Mmhmm, a colon is used to highlight something (separate it from a clause), or for a list. A semicolon is to link two related clauses.
