do you mean just not show up?? If so make sure you are using the Tag correctly

If the images is in the folder just put the URL as like image.gif if not specify the folder such as images/image.gif

When I add the layout, it keeps braking. The images are just red X's.

make news sites, then upload your images onto them e.g.

Create a page= http://www.freewebs.com/habbank1/habbox.html

Then upload you image onto that.

Then were it says this:
